Location and Getting Around

Homestead Village Homes for Sale

Homestead Village is conveniently located near downtown Bel Air and can be accessed from South Main Street or East MacPhail Road. The neighborhood sits behind The John Carroll School and near Rockfield Park, placing residents close to shopping, restaurants, recreation, and many of Bel Air’s everyday conveniences.

One of the biggest advantages of the location is how close it is to downtown Bel Air. Residents can reach Main Street, local restaurants, shops, parks, medical offices, and other services within just a few minutes. Some nearby destinations are also accessible by walking or biking.

Despite being close to some of Bel Air’s busiest areas, Homestead Village itself has a traditional residential feel with mature trees, sidewalks in many areas, and established landscaping.

Homes in Homestead Village

Homestead Village consists primarily of modest to midsize single-family homes built during the 1960s and 1970s. You will find a mixture of colonials, split-levels, ranchers, and other traditional home styles throughout the neighborhood.

Homes typically have three to four bedrooms and average a little under 2,000 square feet. Lot sizes are generally around one-third of an acre, which is slightly larger than what you may find in other Bel Air neighborhoods.

Because the neighborhood was built over several decades ago, mature trees and landscaping are common. The variety of architectural styles, exterior finishes, and renovations also means the neighborhood does not have the uniform appearance of a newer planned development.

Another feature that may appeal to some buyers is that Homestead Village does not have a homeowners association. Homeowners do not have HOA dues or the additional rules and restrictions commonly found in many newer communities.

What Buyers Should Know

Because many Homestead Village homes were built in the 1960s and 1970s, the condition and level of updating can vary considerably from one property to another. Some homes have been extensively renovated, while others may still have original or older kitchens, bathrooms, windows, electrical systems, roofs, or mechanical systems.

This can create opportunities for buyers who want to make improvements over time, but it also makes it important to look beyond cosmetic features when evaluating a home.
